The Performance

"The sun had not yet risen. The sea was indistinguishable from the sky, except that the sea was slightly creased as if a cloth had wrinkles in it. Gradually as the sky whitened a dark line lay on the horizon dividing the sea from the sky and the grey cloth became barred with thick strokes moving, one after another, beneath the surface, following each other, pursuing each other, perpetually."
Virginia Woolf

The performance deals with the meeting of two different movement qualities in two different space levels. One performer in the air and one performer on the floor simultaneously occupying the space represent two different states of being. The interaction between the two performers develops through their parallel presence in the space, yet at times completely dissolves.
This work is a sensitive exploration of and encounter with levels of space, the fluidity of movement, the transparency of body and breath in an atmospheric media landscape.

This work was supported by the Hauptstadtkulturfonds Berlin.
